北京博文国际教育集团（BBIE）多年来一直致力于中外教育文化交流活动。十余年来，已先后邀请众多外国著名专家、学者来华交流访问，并与北京市的大中小学合作，多次举办国际教育交流周活动。近日，2026年国际交流周正式启动，本次交流活动邀请到的是远道而来

的美国知名法官威廉博士。

For many years, Beijing Broaden International Education Group（BBIE）has been dedicated to promoting educational and cultural exchanges between China and other countries. Over the past decade, BTC has invited numerous renowned foreign experts and scholars to visit China for academic exchanges, and has partnered with primary, secondary, and higher education institutions across Beijing to host multiple international education exchange weeks. Recently, the 2026 International Education Exchange Week officially commenced, with this year's program featuring the distinguished American judge, Dr. William Dodson.

威廉·多德森博士曾任美国德州第九届行政司法地区高级法官。在任期间，他在整个州区域的法庭主持审判了多起涉及刑事犯罪、民事案件以及家庭法律纠纷的案件。凭借出色的工作能力，多德森法官于1987年至1995年间连续两届当选德州行政司法地区高级法官。1996年1月，他当选为华盛顿特区公共政策负责人和法律顾问，任期三年，因贡献突出先后受到克林顿总统的接见。

Dr. William Dodson formerly served as Senior Judge of the Ninth Administrative Judicial District in Texas, USA. During his tenure, he presided over numerous cases involving criminal offenses, civil disputes, and family law matters across the entire district. Recognized for his outstanding professional competence, Judge Dodson was elected to consecutive terms as Senior Judge of the Texas Administrative Judicial District from 1987 to 1995. In January 1996, he was appointed Director of Public Policy and Legal Counselfor Washington, D.C., serving a three-year term during which his exceptional contributions earned him audiences with President Clinton on multiple occasions.

本年度交流周的第二站安排在了北京市第九中学（简称九中）， 也是继2024年后，第二次来九中交流访问。北京市第九中学是石景山区公立完全中学，1946年建校，是北京市示范高中。学校秉持全人教育理念，校训"砺身砺志、博爱博学"，以"关注健康、尊重个性"为核心，构建"博学—博爱—博雅"分层课程体系，五育并举。

The second stop of this year's exchange week was held at Beijing No. 9 High School (commonly referred to as "Jiu Zhong"),marking Dr. Dodson's second visit to the school following his 2024 exchange.Founded in 1946, Beijing No. 9 High School is a public comprehensive secondary school in Shijingshan District and serves as a model high school in Beijing.The school adheres to a holistic education philosophy, with its motto"Temper the Body and Will, Embrace Love and Knowledge." Centered on the principles of "Focusing on Health, Respecting Individuality," theschool has established a tiered curriculum system encompassing "Knowledge,Benevolence, and Elegance," promoting comprehensive development across all five educational domains.

在讲座开始前，北京市第九中学的李校长和肖校长热情接待了多德森博士，以及我集团总裁王朋和随行的人员。李校长自豪地讲述了学校办学的辉煌成绩和近期的发展，并感谢多德森博士远道来到学校和同学们分享自己的成长感悟。王主任也表达了希望更多和学校交流推动学校向国际化发展的期望和目标。

Prior to the lecture, Principal Li and Principal Xiao ofBeijing No. 9 High School warmly received Dr. Dodson, along with BBIE PresidentWang Peng and accompanying staff. Principal Li proudly shared the school'sremarkable achievements and recent developments, expressing gratitude to Dr.Dodson for traveling so far to share his personal growth insights with thestudents. Director Wang also conveyed his hope for expanded collaboration withthe school to advance its internationalization goals.

演讲中，多德森法官以自身成长经历为主线，向同学们娓娓道来他的人生故事。多德森法官特别提到，大约8岁那年，他在电视上看到美国20世纪60年代的种族问题，深受触动，于是提笔给美国总统写了一封信，呼吁"我们应该平等对待所有人，不应该因肤色而区别对待他人"。令他惊喜的是，他收到了来自白宫的回信。这个经历点燃了他对历史和政治科学的浓厚兴趣，也为他日后走上法律道路埋下了种子。

During his speech, Judge Dodson wove a compelling narrative of his life journey, sharing his story with the students in a warm and engaging manner.Judge Dodson particularly recalled that at around the age  of eight, he was deeply moved by television coverage of racial issues in 1960s America. Inspired to take action, he wrote a letter to the President of the United States, urging that "we should treat all people equally and not discriminate against others based on skin color." To his great surprise, he received a reply from the White House. This experience ignited his passion for history and political science, planting the seed that would eventually lead him to pursue a career in law.

25岁从法学院毕业后，30岁的多德森当选为德州法官，成为该州500多名法官中最年轻的一位。他还向同学们分享了一个温馨而具有历史意义的细节：宣誓就职时，他特意请自己的父亲——一位高级法院法官——为他主持宣誓仪式，创造了父子同任法官的佳话。

After graduating from law school at age 25, Dodson was elected as a judge in Texas at age 30, becoming the youngest judge among more than 500 in the state. He also shared a heartwarming and historically significant detail: when taking his oath of office, he specifically requested that his father—a senior court judge—administer the ceremony, creating a cherished legacy of father and son serving as judges together.

结合自身数十年的人生阅历，多德森法官向同学们提炼出两点核心建议：第一，发现自我，找到热爱。 他强调，教育的过程不仅是学习知识，更是了解自己的过程。"找到一件你能做、你喜欢做、而且你擅长做的事。"他教导同学们，不必刻意迎合他人对自己的期待，而应勇敢做自己，"做自己天生该成为的人"。第二，善待他人，推己及人。他解释道，自己喜欢别人友善相待，因此也努力友善待人。这是他教给自己孩子和孙辈的人生准则，也是他走遍中国各地反复分享的理念。"世界上最重要的事情是人，"他说，"学会与人相处，是我们一生的功课。"

Drawing from decades of life experience, Judge Dodson distilled two core pieces of advice for the students:First, discover yourself and find your passion. He emphasized that education is not merely about acquiring knowledge, but about understanding oneself. "Find something you can do, something you love to do, and something you are good at doing." He taught students not to conforme to others' expectations, encouraging them instead to be courageous in being themselves—to"become the person you were born to be."Second, treat others well and practice the Golden Rule. He explained that because he appreciates being treated with kindness, he strives to treat others with kindness in return. This is the life principle he has taught his own children and grandchildren, and it is a message he has shared repeatedly throughout his travels across China."The most important thing in the world is people," he said."Learning how to get along with others is a lifelong lesson."

本次演讲由我集团陶菲菲主任担任现场翻译。陶主任以生动风趣、通俗易懂的语言风格，将多德森法官的故事和人生哲理娓娓道来，引得同学们阵阵掌声。同学们听得津津有味，时而点头赞同，时而陷入沉思，完全被演讲内容所吸引。演讲结束后，多德森法官与同学们合影留念，同学们纷纷竖起大拇指，脸上洋溢着收获的喜悦。

The lecture was translated on-site by Ms. Tao Feifei,Director of BBIE. With her lively, engaging, and accessible translation style,Director Tao brought Judge Dodson's stories and life philosophy to life,eliciting rounds of enthusiastic applause from the students. The audience listened with rapt attention, nodding in agreement at times and falling intodeep contemplation at others, completely captivated by the presentation.Following the lecture, Judge Dodson posed for photos with the students, who gave enthusiastic thumbs-up, their faces beaming with the joy of a meaningful and rewarding experience.

本次国际交流活动为北京九中的同学们打开了一扇了解世界的窗口，也为中美之间的文化交流搭建了友谊的桥梁。正如多德森法官所言，每一次演讲和交流都是精神的传递与启迪，能够在同学们心中点燃梦想与希望，这便是教育最珍贵的意义。

This international exchange activity opened a window to the world for the students of Beijing No. 9 High School, while also building abridge of friendship for cultural exchange between China and the United States.As Judge Dodson aptly noted, every lecture and exchange represents thetransmission and inspiration of spirit—igniting dreams and hope in the hearts of students. This, indeed, is the most precious meaning of education.
