2026 Beijing Broaden International Education Group International Exchange Week — Third Stop: Beijing Jingshan School Yuanyang Branch

5月25日，王朋总裁携北京博文国际教育集团（BBIE）团队及专家Will博士受邀来到了北京景山学校远洋分校，开启了本次国际交流周的第三站行程。北京景山学校远洋分校创建于2007年5月。学校秉承本部“‌明理·勤奋·严谨·创新‌”校训，实行‌五四学制‌，推行“‌十二年三层六域远航课程‌”体系，强调‌人文与科技并举、传统与现代融合‌。‌‌

On May 25, President Wang Peng led the Beijing Broaden International Education Group（BBIE）team and expert Dr. Will to Beijing Jingshan School Yuanyang Branch, launching the third stop of this year's International Exchange Week. Beijing Jingshan School Yuanyang Branch was established in May 2007. The school upholds the motto of its headquarters: "Reason, Diligence, Rigor, Innovation," implements the "5+4" academic system, and promotes the "Twelve-Year Three-Level Six-Domain Voyage Curriculum" system, emphasizing the parallel development of humanities and technology, and the integration of tradition and modernity.

作为本次演讲人的威廉·多德森博士，曾任美国德州第九届行政司法地区高级法官。在任期间，他在整个州区域的法庭主持审判了多起涉及刑事犯罪、民事案件以及家庭法律纠纷的案件。凭借出色的工作能力，多德森法官于1987年至1995年间连续两届当选德州行政司法地区高级法官。1996年1月，他当选为华盛顿特区公共政策负责人和法律顾问，任期三年，因贡献突出先后受到克林顿总统的接见。自从2014年来到中国，他就和中国人民结下了深厚的友谊，曾多次来访中国讲座和交流，并曾执教于中国政法大学。

As the keynote speaker, Dr. William Dodson formerly served as Senior Judge of the Ninth Administrative Judicial District in Texas, USA. During his tenure, he presided over numerous cases involving criminal offenses, civil disputes, and family law matters across the entire district. Recognized for his outstanding professional competence, Judge Dodson was elected to consecutive terms as Senior Judge of the Texas Administrative Judicial District from 1987 to 1995. In January 1996, he was appointed Director of Public Policy and Legal Counsel for Washington, D.C., serving a three-year term during which his exceptional contributions earned him audiences with President Clinton on multiple occasions. Since coming to China in 2014, he has forged a profound friendship with the Chinese people, visiting China many times for lectures and exchanges, and has taught at China University of Political Science and Law.

在讲座开始前，吕丽校长向多德森博士和我集团总裁王朋以及随行人员，介绍了学校的发展历史和办学理念。吕校长讲述学校如何从一个景山中学的分校发展成一个教育集团，拥有五个校区，并跻身于石景山八大教育集团行列的快速发展历史。她强调学校重视对学生的全面发展，这一点获得了多德森博士的赞同和称赞。

Prior to the lecture, Principal Lyu Li introduced the school's development history and educational philosophy to Dr. Dodson, BBIE President Wang Peng, and accompanying staff. Principal Lyu recounted how the school evolved from a branch of Jingshan School into an education group with five campuses, rising to become one of the eight major education groups in Shijingshan District. She emphasized the school's commitment to students' comprehensive development, a point that received Dr. Dodson's agreement and praise.

演讲中，多德森法官以自身成长经历为主线，向同学们分享了两点核心感悟。

关于发现自我。 中学时期，篮球曾是他最大的梦想，他甚至一度想成为一名职业球员。但在父母引导下，他逐渐发现了更广阔的志趣。大约8岁那年，他在电视上看到美国20世纪60年代的种族问题，深受触动，于是提笔给美国总统写信，呼吁平等对待所有人。令他惊喜的是，他收到了白宫的回信。这段经历点燃了他对历史和政治科学的兴趣，也为他日后走上法律道路埋下了种子。25岁从法学院毕业后，30岁的多德森当选为德州法官，成为该州500多名法官中最年轻的一位。他还分享了一个温馨细节：宣誓就职时，他特意请自己的父亲——一位高级法院法官——为他主持仪式，创造了父子同任法官的佳话。他教导同学们，不必刻意迎合他人的期待，而应勇敢做自己，"做自己天生该成为的人"。

During his speech, Judge Dodson shared two core insights with the students, drawing from his own life journey.

On Self-Discovery. Basketball was his greatest dream during middle school; he even once aspired to become a professional player. But under his parents' guidance, he gradually discovered broader interests. Around the age of eight, he was deeply moved by television coverage of racial issues in 1960s America. Inspired to take action, he wrote a letter to the President of the United States, urging equal treatment for all people. To his great surprise, he received a reply from the White House. This experience ignited his passion for history and political science, planting the seed that would eventually lead him to pursue a career in law. After graduating from law school at age 25, Dodson was elected as a judge in Texas at age 30, becoming the youngest judge among more than 500 in the state. He also shared a heartwarming detail: when taking his oath of office, he specifically requested that his father—a senior court judge—administer the ceremony, creating a cherished legacy of father and son serving as judges together. He taught students not to conform to others' expectations, encouraging them instead to "become the person you were born to be."

关于善待他人。 2015年第二次访华时，一位年轻学生问他："法官阁下，法律的本质是什么？"他的回答是："法律的本质，就是像希望别人对待自己那样去对待别人。"他解释道，自己喜欢别人友善相待，因此也努力友善待人。这是他教给子女和孙辈的人生准则，也是他走遍中国反复分享的理念。"世界上最重要的事情是人，"他说，"学会与人相处，是我们一生的功课。

On Treating Others Well. During his second visit to China in 2015, a young student asked him: "Your Honor, what is the essence of law?" His answer was: "The essence of law is to treat others as you would wish to be treated." He explained that because he appreciates being treated with kindness, he strives to treat others with kindness in return. This is the life principle he has taught his own children and grandchildren, and it is a message he has shared repeatedly throughout his travels across China. "The most important thing in the world is people," he said. "Learning how to get along with others is a lifelong lesson."

在多德森博士分享中提到了他的一个好朋友兰迪博士，我集团的王总裁给学生们简单介绍了这位失去双臂但是却身残志坚获得博士学位的传奇人物。他曾经用自己的经历给汶川地震中的人民带来莫大的安慰，并给失去双腿的廖智‌安装义肢。

During his sharing, Dr. Dodson mentioned his good friend Dr. Randy. BBIE President Wang Peng briefly introduced this legendary figure to the students—a man who lost both arms yet persevered to earn his doctoral degree through sheer determination. He once used his own experiences to bring immense comfort to the people affected by the Wenchuan earthquake, and he fitted prosthetic limbs for Liao Zhi, who lost both legs in the disaster.

在讲座结束后的问答环节，同学们就多德森博士提到的法律的本质问题，在生活中遇到的一些困惑，还有多德森博士在做法官期间的工作进行了深入交流。他们被博士的博学和幽默深深感染，并立志成为像他一样为世界带来温暖和笑声的人。

Following the lecture, a Q&A session was held. The students engaged in in-depth exchanges with Dr. Dodson on the essence of law he had discussed, various confusions they encountered in daily life, and his work during his years as a lawyer. They were deeply inspired by his erudition and humor, and resolved to become people who bring warmth and laughter to the world, just as he does.
