2026 Beijing Broaden International Education Group International Education Exchange Week— Fourth Stop: Beijing Jingyuan School

北京博文国际教育集团（BBIE）一直致力于推进中小学学生的英语水平和国际交往能力的提升，定期举办各类国际交流活动。作为系列活动之一，我们每年都会邀请来自国外的著名专家来华进行交流和访问。今年我们有幸再次邀请到前美国德州第九届行政司法地区高级法官、华盛顿特区公共政策负责⼈和法律顾问威廉•多德森博士来华开展讲座和文化交流。

Beijing Broaden International Education Group (BBIE) has been committed to enhancing the English proficiency and international communication capabilities of primary and secondary school students, regularly organizing various international exchange activities. As part of this series, we invite renowned foreign experts to China each year for exchanges and visits. This year, we are honored to once again welcome Dr. William Dodson, former Senior Judge of the Ninth Administrative Judicial District in Texas and Director of Public Policy and Legal Counsel for Washington, D.C., to deliver lectures and engage in cultural exchanges in China.

5月26日下午， 北京市京源学校携手我集团，在校园举办了以《如何拥有真正的成功和幸福？》为主题的讲座和交流活动。在BBIE王朋总裁的陪同下，美国资深法律专家威廉博士对北京市京源学校进行访问交流，并为学校师生们带来了一场精彩的校园讲座。北京市京源学校建校于1996年，致力于培养“具有真、善、美品格，有能力担当社会责任和创造幸福生活的高素质人才”。2025年被评为全国文明校园。

On the afternoon of May 26, Beijing Jingyuan School, in collaboration with our education group, hosted a lecture and exchange event on campus themed "How to Achieve True Success and Happiness?" Accompanied by BBIE President Wang Peng, the distinguished American legal expert Dr. William visited Beijing Jingyuan School for an exchange and delivered a wonderful campus lecture for the school's teachers and students. Founded in 1996, Beijing Jingyuan School is dedicated to cultivating "high-quality talents with truth, goodness, and beauty, capable of shouldering social responsibility and creating a happy life." In 2025, the school was recognized as a National Civilized Campus.

威廉·多德森博士曾任美国德州第九届行政司法地区高级法官。在任期间，他在整个州区域的法庭主持审判了多起涉及刑事犯罪、民事案件以及家庭法律纠纷的案件。凭借出色的工作能力，多德森法官于1987年至1995年间连续两届当选德州行政司法地区高级法官。1996年1月，他当选为华盛顿特区公共政策负责人和法律顾问，任期三年，因贡献突出先后受到克林顿总统和小布什总统的接见。

Dr. William Dodson served as a senior judge in the Ninth Administrative Judicial District of Texas. During his tenure, he presided over numerous trials across the state involving criminal offenses, civil cases, and family law disputes. Demonstrating exceptional professional ability, Judge Dodson was re-elected twice as senior judge of the Texas Administrative Judicial District from 1987 to 1995. In January 1996, he was elected Public Policy Director and Legal Advisor for Washington, D.C., serving a three-year term, during which he received recognition and audiences with both President Clinton and President George W. Bush for his outstanding contributions.

在本次活动中，威廉博士就他在法律行业的职业经历以及个人生活经历进行了分享。威廉博士向大家介绍自己的家庭背景和人生经历，通过讲述自己为什么选择法官作为自己的职业，以及自己如何通过“做最好的自己，善待他人”的人生信条激励自己取得成功的个人故事，激励同学们，每个人都是独特的，做最好的自己，善待他人，就一定会成功！

During this event, Dr. William shared his professional experiences in the legal industry as well as his personal life journey. He introduced his family background and life experiences to the audience, explaining why he chose to become a judge and how he has been motivated by his life motto of "Be your best self and treat others well" to achieve success. He inspired the students that everyone is unique, and by being their best selves and treating others with kindness, they will surely succeed!

25岁从法学院毕业后，30岁的多德森当选为德州法官，成为该州500多名法官中最年轻的一位。他还向同学们分享了一个温馨而具有历史意义的细节：宣誓就职时，他特意请自己的父亲——一位高级法院法官——为他主持宣誓仪式，创造了父子同任法官的佳话。

After graduating from law school at age 25, Dodson was elected as a judge in Texas at age 30, becoming the youngest judge among more than 500 judges in the state. He also shared a heartwarming and historically significant detail: when taking his oath of office, he specifically requested that his father—a senior court judge—administer the ceremony, creating a cherished legacy of father and son serving as judges together.

他用简单的生活经历来解释利人利己的原则。他自己喜欢别人友善相待，因此也努力友善待人。这是他教给自己孩子和孙辈的人生准则，也是他走遍中国各地反复分享的理念。"世界上最重要的事情是人，"他说，"学会与人相处，是我们一生的功课。"

He used simple life experiences to explain the principle of mutual benefit. Because he appreciates being treated with kindness, he strives to treat others with kindness in return. This is the life principle he has taught his own children and grandchildren, and it is a message he has shared repeatedly throughout his travels across China. "The most important thing in the world is people," he said. "Learning how to get along with others is a lifelong lesson."

本次演讲由我集团陶菲菲主任担任现场翻译。陶主任把多德森博士演讲中的精华再次给学生提炼出来，用她热情饱满的语言把多德森博士传奇和卓越的一生呈现出来，学生们听得津津有味，完全被演讲内容所吸引。

The lecture was translated on-site by Ms. Tao Feifei, Director of our group. Director Tao distilled the essence of Dr. Dodson's speech for the students, presenting his legendary and remarkable life with her passionate and engaging language. The students listened with great interest, completely captivated by the presentation.

在互动环节，同学们踊跃举手提问，从学校的学业、中美的文化差异、人生选择等话题与多德森法官展开了交流。多德森法官耐心解答每一个问题，现场气氛热烈。演讲结束后，多德森法官与同学们合影留念，同学们纷纷竖起大拇指，脸上洋溢着收获的喜悦。

During the interactive session, students eagerly raised their hands to ask questions, engaging in exchanges with Judge Dodson on topics ranging from academic studies and cultural differences between China and America to life choices. Judge Dodson patiently answered each question, and the atmosphere was lively. Following the lecture, Judge Dodson posed for photos with the students, who gave enthusiastic thumbs-up, their faces beaming with the joy of a meaningful and rewarding experience.

演讲尾声，多德森法官表达了他对美国和中国的热爱，并表达了美好愿景："我希望两个伟大的国家能够成为伟大的朋友。"他还幽默地分享了自己的一个小梦想——希望有一天能见到美国总统并合影留念，就像他希望见到中国领导人一样，因为他对两国的未来都充满信心。

At the conclusion of his speech, Judge Dodson expressed his love for both America and China, sharing a beautiful vision: "I hope these two great nations can become great friends." He also humorously shared a small dream of his—to one day meet the President of the United States and take a photo together, just as he hopes to meet China's leaders, because he is full of confidence in the future of both countries.

由于时间限制很多没有在讲座中和博士进行交流的同学，在讲座后依然围绕在他身边和他探讨各自关注的话题。即使在博士回到会客厅休息的时候，同学依然热情地向博士请教，索要他的签名并留影。其中有一个想成为律师的男生，和多德森博士就成为律师的规划做了深入的交流。

Due to time constraints, many students who had not had the opportunity to interact with Dr. Dodson during the lecture continued to gather around him afterward to discuss topics of their interest. Even when Dr. Dodson returned to the reception room to rest, students enthusiastically sought his advice, asked for his autograph, and took photos with him. Among them was a boy who aspires to become a lawyer, who engaged in an in-depth exchange with Dr. Dodson about his plans for pursuing a legal career.

本次国际交流活动为北京京源学校的同学们打开了一扇了解世界的窗口。正如多德森法官所言，每一次演讲和交流都是精神的传递与启迪，能够在同学们心中点燃梦想与希望，这便是教育最珍贵的意义。

This international exchange activity opened a window to the world for the students of Beijing Jingyuan School. As Judge Dodson aptly noted, every lecture and exchange represents the transmission and inspiration of spirit—igniting dreams and hope in the hearts of students. This, indeed, is the most precious meaning of education.
