2026 Beijing Broaden International Education Group International Education Exchange Week – Stop 5: Beijing Chaoyang Kaiwen Academy

2026年，由北京博文国际教育集团（BBIE）主办的国际交流周系列活动顺利推进。作为本次交流周的重要场次，美国资深法官威廉・多德森博士应邀走进北京朝阳凯文学校，为师生带来一场融合人生阅历、法治精神与国际视野的专题讲座。

In 2026, the International Education Exchange Week series, hosted by Beijing Broaden International Education Group (BBIE), continued to advance successfully. As a key event of this exchange week, Dr. William Dodson, a senior American judge, was invited to Beijing Chaoyang Kaiwen Academy to deliver a special lecture for faculty and students, blending life experience, the spirit of the rule of law, and an international perspective.

威廉・多德森博士是美国司法界与公共政策领域的资深专家，拥有极为亮眼的职业履历。他曾担任美国德州第九届行政司法地区高级法官，在任期间主持审理大量刑事、民事及家庭法律纠纷案件，以专业素养与公正立场赢得广泛认可。自2014年来到中国后，他长期投身中美教育文化交流，多次走进国内多所大中小学开展分享，曾在中国政法大学任教，以真诚、幽默与深刻的人生智慧深受广大师生喜爱。

Dr. William Dodson is a senior expert in the American judiciary and public policy, with an exceptionally distinguished professional record. He served as a Senior Judge of the Ninth Administrative Judicial Region of Texas, presiding over numerous criminal, civil, and family law cases during his tenure, earning widespread recognition for his professionalism and impartiality. Since coming to China in 2014, he has been deeply committed to China-U.S. educational and cultural exchange, visiting many schools and universities across China to share his insights. He has also taught at China University of Political Science and Law, and is beloved by faculty and students for his sincerity, humor, and profound life wisdom.

在热烈的掌声中，多德森博士以轻松亲切的方式开启分享。他以自身成长故事为主线，将理想萌芽、职业选择、人生坚守与人文关怀自然串联，用真实可感的经历打动在场每一位听众。博士回忆，大约8岁时，他在电视上看到美国当时的种族平等议题，内心深受触动，怀着对公平与尊重的朴素追求，提笔给美国总统写信，呼吁不分肤色、平等相待。令人惊喜的是，他收到了白宫回信。这次经历点燃了他对历史、政治与法律的浓厚兴趣，也在他心中埋下追求正义、关爱他人的种子。

Amid warm applause, Dr. Dodson began his talk in a relaxed and approachable manner. Using his own life story as the main thread, he naturally wove together the germination of ideals, career choices, lifelong perseverance, and humanistic care, moving every listener in the room with genuine and relatable experiences. Dr. Dodson recalled that at around the age of eight, he was deeply moved by the racial equality issues he saw on television in the United States. Driven by a simple pursuit of fairness and respect, he picked up a pen and wrote to the President of the United States, calling for equal treatment regardless of skin color. To his surprise, he received a reply from the White House. This experience ignited his strong interest in history, politics, and law, and planted a seed in his heart for the pursuit of justice and care for others.

多德森博士 25 岁从法学院毕业，30 岁便当选德州法官，成为当时该州 500 多名法官中最年轻的一位。他特别分享了宣誓就职时的温暖瞬间：特意邀请同为高级法院法官的父亲为自己主持仪式，成就一段父子同任法官的美好佳话。这段经历让在场师生真切感受到理想传承、家庭支持与职业热爱的力量。

Dr. Dodson graduated from law school at the age of 25 and was elected a judge in Texas by the age of 30, becoming the youngest among more than 500 judges in the state at that time. He especially shared the warm moment of his swearing-in ceremony: he specially invited his father, also a senior court judge, to administer the oath, creating a beautiful story of father and son serving as judges together. This experience allowed the faculty and students present to truly feel the power of inherited ideals, family support, and professional passion.

结合数十年人生阅历与司法实践，多德森博士向同学们分享了两条核心成长启示。第一，发现自我，忠于热爱。他指出，每个人都应找到自己真正喜欢、擅长并愿意坚持的事，不必迎合他人期待，勇敢做自己。他鼓励同学们保持好奇、勇于探索，在尝试中找到方向，在热爱中获得力量。第二，善待他人，推己及人。他强调，世界上最重要的是人，学会尊重、理解、友善相处，是一生的必修课，也是法治精神与社会和谐的根基。

Drawing on decades of life experience and judicial practice, Dr. Dodson shared two core insights on personal growth with the students. First, discover yourself and stay true to your passion. He pointed out that everyone should find what they truly love, excel at, and are willing to persevere in, without catering to others' expectations, and have the courage to be themselves. He encouraged students to remain curious, explore bravely, find direction through trial, and gain strength through passion. Second, treat others well and put yourself in their shoes. He emphasized that people are the most important thing in the world; learning to respect, understand, and get along with others kindly is a lifelong essential lesson and the foundation of the spirit of the rule of law and social harmony.

讲座现场氛围热烈而专注。多德森博士语言生动、故事鲜活，翻译老师表达流畅、通俗易懂，师生们认真聆听、频频点头，掌声不断。在互动问答环节，同学们积极提问。多德森博士耐心解答、循循善诱，用简洁的语言传递深刻道理，让大家在轻松对话中收获思考、拓宽眼界。

The atmosphere at the lecture was warm and focused. Dr. Dodson's language was vivid, his stories compelling, the interpreter's expression was fluent and accessible, and the faculty and students listened attentively, nodding frequently amid continuous applause. During the Q&A session, students asked questions actively. Dr. Dodson answered patiently and guided them gently, conveying profound truths in simple language, allowing everyone to gain insights and broaden their horizons through relaxed dialogue.

活动尾声，多德森博士与师生代表合影留念。其中一个来自俄罗斯的留学生表达了对博士讲座的感谢，因为她也想从事法律工作，推进经济平等和人权在俄罗斯的实现。博士的讲座给了她很大的激励和启发，她也向博士询问了如何走律师和参与政治道路，以及他在遇到困难的时候是如何应对的。

At the end of the event, Dr. Dodson took a group photo with faculty and student representatives. Among them, an international student from Russia expressed her gratitude for Dr. Dodson's lecture, as she also aspires to pursue a career in law to advance economic equality and human rights in Russia. The lecture gave her great inspiration and motivation. She also asked Dr. Dodson about how to pursue a path as a lawyer and in politics, and how he coped with difficulties when he encountered them.

在讲座后，校领导又接见了多德森博士和随行人员。马校长介绍了学校坚持国际化、全人教育的办学方向，以及在中西融合课程、个性化培养、全球视野培育等方面的实践成果。多德森博士对凯文学校开放包容的校园氛围、面向未来的教育理念给予高度赞赏。双方一致认为，国际交流是拓宽学生格局、提升综合素养、培育世界公民的重要途径，期待未来在学术互访、文化体验、专题讲座等方面开展更多合作。随后，博士一行又参观了校园，和图书馆工作人员以及其他教职工进行了亲切的沟通。

After the lecture, the school leadership received Dr. Dodson and his accompanying delegation. Principal Ma introduced the school's commitment to an international and whole-person education, as well as its practical achievements in integrated Chinese and Western curricula, personalized cultivation, and fostering a global perspective. Dr. Dodson highly praised Kaiwen Academy's open and inclusive campus atmosphere and its future-oriented educational philosophy. Both sides agreed that international exchange is an important pathway to broaden students' horizons, enhance comprehensive literacy, and cultivate global citizens, and they look forward to further cooperation in academic exchanges, cultural experiences, special lectures, and other areas. Subsequently, Dr. Dodson and his delegation also toured the campus and had cordial conversations with library staff and other faculty members.

Our group has long been dedicated to Chinese and international educational and cultural exchange. Over the past decade, we have joined hands with numerous international experts and scholars to carry out in-depth cooperation with schools across the country. This International Exchange Week uses lectures as a vehicle, with youth growth at its core, promoting mutual learning between Chinese and foreign cultures and bringing strength for growth to students. In the future, our group will continue to serve as a bridge, steadily advancing international educational exchange and cooperation, supporting the internationalization of Chinese education, and enabling more young people to grow through exchange, progress through dialogue, and step onto a broader stage of life through inclusiveness and understanding.
